Many companies are resorting to outside audit services in order to resolve uncertainties around Intellectual Property (IP) ownership, licensing compliance and vulnerabilities in their software portfolio.

Often, the audit is carried out as the last step in a transaction such as a Merger and Acquisition (M&A) or product shipment, putting pressure on timely completion of the assessment and the availability of the audit report.

There are many steps that organizations can take in order to streamline the software audit process and reduce the time or effort required for this task. Join us as we traverse the anatomy of an audit process, drawing on our experience in carrying out more than a hundred audit projects in large and small companies.

Content Chaos: Why SharePoint and Office 365 Aren't the (only) Answer

When Microsoft launched SharePoint, it was made for simply sharing documents within departments. Today, many companies are trying to use it as their primary content management solution—their “system of record”—even though it was never designed for this. While an overwhelming majority of organizations use SharePoint in some manner, only a small portion sees their deployment as a success, according to a recent ECM survey.

Why is this?
The leading concern is around the lack of true information governance capabilities within SharePoint. This makes it challenging to address compliance and security concerns. Additionally, significant issues remain around utilizing SharePoint for workflow/business processes or case management tasks.

In order to be successful, you need an organizational content management strategy that provides IT with security and compliance, while giving end users an intuitive experience for increased adoption.

We can help.
This complimentary lunchtime seminar will further discuss known issues around SharePoint. We will also identify ways your organization can implement solutions that ensure security and user adoption—through integration with your existing SharePoint deployment.

Open Source Software (OSS) plays a key role in research-driven projects. To guarantee sustainable results, the process of innovation has to reach beyond organizational boundaries. The combination of internal and external knowledge and motivation unleashes new potentials and opens paths to new ways of success. It is Open Source Software that establishes this link. Thus, OSS is a building block, which cannot be neglected by academia, industry or the public sector. OSS gains also importance from a European perspective, which becomes obvious by the emphasis of the European Commission on their Open Source Strategy for 2017. The openlaws.eu – Open Source Workshop therefore aims at bringing international professionals from academia, industry, and the public sector together to exchange experience, findings, and ideas in the realm of Open Source Software.

  • The user-contributed presentations are submitted as abstracts prior to the conference and may be related to (virtually) any R-related topic. The presentations are typically organized sessions of either broad or special interest, which also comprise a "free" discussion format. Such a discussion format not only provides a forum for software demonstrations and detailed discussions but also supports the self-organization of the respective communities.
