Richard is Managing Director at Totara Learning Solutions Ltd. Totara is a fully featured open source Learning Management System for corporate learning, based on Moodle. The mission for this Moodle distro is to deliver a revolutionary impact to workplace training globally.

Richard is also Chair and co-founder of Kineo (Pacific), based in Wellington, New Zealand. The Kineo group of companies specialise in innovative e-learning solutions.

Previously Richard led the New Zealand Open Source Virtual Learning Environment Project, involving a consortium of 20 universities, institutes of technology and polytechnics. His work with the Moodle Learning Management System, since early 2004, has gained Richard international recognition as a thought leader in eLearning technology circles. Moodle is now one of the most widely deployed LMSs internationally and is firmly established as a key eLearning platform in New Zealand, both in education and corporate training environments.
