A confusing business organization chart

What are microservices? Have you heard the phrase "microservices" used in a discussion of modern application development and wondered what it's all about?

At Opensource.com, we strive to help you learn about the important changes happening in technology today. To assist with that, we've created a new resource page that gently introduces microservices, a modern way of building applications which rely upon distributed systems to do their jobs.

In addition to answering the basic question of what microservices are, we also answer a few more, including:

  • Where did this concept come from? Why is open source software important for Microservices?
  • Where do Docker and container technologies come in?
  • How do you orchestrate microservices?
  • What about existing applications?
  • Where can I learn more?

Check it out, and feel free to share this resource with colleagues or others who may be interested. And as always, be sure to let us know if we missed something important, or if you can think of a way we can improve it.
