Jim Whitehurst, President and CEO of Red Hat, Inc., recently shared his thoughts on leadership in business at the Marbles annual Big Idea Forum. He said, "For leaders to be truly effective, they're going to have to operate as catalysts. When you get into the details, it's subtle but it's incredibly important."

In your organization, do those in leadership positions strive to practice openness and open source principles: open exchange, participation, rapid prototyping, community, and meritocracy?

If not, are you seeing any sort of shift towards a more open state-of-mind?

Or, if you're self-employed how important do you think it is to practice transparency and collabortion with your colleagues, clients, and partners?
