This contest was made possible by generous donations of prizes. Here are some details about our sponsors and what we’re giving away to the winners.

Grand Prize: $500 in eBooks from O’Reilly Media.

O’Reilly Media gives lifetime access to eBooks when you purchase through Whenever possible O’Reilly provides them to you in several DRM-free file formats—PDF, ePub, Kindle-compatible .mobi, and DAISY. Your eBooks are enhanced with color images. They are fully searchable, and you can cut-and-paste and print them. O’Reilly will also alert you when it updates your eBooks with corrections and additions. The Grand Prize winner will receive $500 in credits to spend on eBooks from the O’Reilly Media store.

Second and Third Prizes: One pass to the LinuxCon/CloudOpen conference from The Linux Foundation.

The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux, is hosting LinuxCon and CloudOpen North America in New Orleans, La., September 16-18, 2013. This year’s event has an increased emphasis on technical content, as well as new activities aimed at encouraging newcomer participation that can fuel the future of Linux, open cloud, and collaborative development. The Second and Third Prize winners will receive free registration to the conference, but will be responsible for all other expenses relating to the conference, including travel.

Fourth Prize: An Adafruit kit to make a solar charger for your electronics from Adafruit Industries.

Adafruit Industries is making it easier than ever to build your own "Solar MintyBoost," a solar power charger for your gadgets. Adafruit Industries offers tools, equipment, and electronics for makers of all ages and skill levels. The Fourth Prize winner will receive a complete kit to build their own solar power gadget charger.

Fifth Prize: A one-year subscription to MAKE Magazine.

MAKE is a quarterly project-based magazine published by O'Reilly Media. MAKE brings the do-it-yourself mindset to all the technology in your life. MAKE is loaded with exciting projects that help you make the most of your technology at home and away from home. It follows in line with the Hacks books and Hardware Hacking Projects, but it takes a highly visual and personal approach.
