For more than 15 years I've worked shoulder-to-shoulder with software engineers from around the globe.

I've experienced how developing yourself as a next generation leader in software engineering can be filled with ambiguity.

So, in collaboration with Alexis Monville, I've combined my writing and coaching skills to package a leadership development experience into a book.

Great article for managers Matt. I'd also encourage leaders of managers to use the information in here to check in with their teams on how capable they are of giving this sort of feedback. It seems like a good exercise to do as part of a team building day.

Great article Eric. I'm picking up a subtle leadership undercurrent that riffs nicely with Alexis Monville's book Changing Your Team From The Inside. Taking ownership and making change starting with yourself being the first step, and then helping others see for themselves where they can make changes. Your comment about no longer having a boss you could simply refer to made me think about servant leadership. Specifically the internal change required for people who are used to having (or asking) answers to a mode where they can help others find the answers for themselves. Thanks for writing something that made me think today. :-)
