It is super easy: look at the bottom right corner. Click on the eye button. Then, next to the eye button, a list is activated. Click on "Normal Vision" and select the kind of disability you want to simulate and check. When finished, click again on the eye to continue to work.

It's good also that you clarified it is difficult to do that "to eat". I mean, I would love to be paid to write tutorials and articles full time. But usually I write about what I do or did, or problems I have to solve to get things done. So if I would become a full time author, I would actually have less concrete experience to share.
I can also confirm that visibility and self confidence are two benefits from writing for opensource.com
