David Mason (@dcm) and Heather LaGarde (@heatherlagarde) were interested in expressing open source in other ways and wanted to help spread mobile and open technologies across developing worlds at IntraHealth. They combined these two goals by remixing a song.

Musician, Youssou N'Dour, other celebrity musicians, and their record labels joined together to remix a song under Creative Commons. No one knew what open source was or what Creative Commons meant, but through the making of this new song, it became clear to everyone that the process and value of it had to do with the ability to repurpose work for a new goal.
