I don't know... I am not convinced that "To make something does not require soldering, programming, or wiring" is the right thing to do when teaching someone to "make". Failure has always been the greatest teacher.

I don't think there is a way to gauge the effects of on-line learning. It has been shown that most who take online courses are good at passing courses but not so good at using the material in a real situation. It's generating a large group of people who are academically inclined but have no practical ability. Institutions will always be necessary.
