Opensource.com

A new world record has been set and we've finally surpassed 500k page views in a month! We ended 2014 with a bang and December garnered 547,016 page views and 308,112 unique visits. We published 77 articles and had numerous posts highlighting our "best of" content from 2014.

Highlights

It was amazing to see 60% of the articles published were contributed from the open source community at-large.

Several articles were referenced by other publications. The open gaming review Open source and Linux in 2014 was picked up by IT World, and an article on open data Does Open Data Demand an API-first Approach? was covered on Programmable Web.

Top 10 open source projects of 2014, which featured eight cloud-related projects (Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, OpenStack, Ansible, ownCloud, Hadoop, and OpenDaylight) was a huge hit, generating almost 20,000 hits. Overall, all cloud-related topics on Opensource.com brought 90,682 page views to the site, by far a new record.

For the twelfth month in a row, the top article was Top 5 open source project management tools in 2014, written by one of our Community Moderators. This article continues to get steady search traffic and was the most visited page on the site with more than 34,000 page views.

Our community moderators contributed 26 articles this month (34% of our published content), had 5 posts in the overall top 10, and produced lots of great social media support and syndication efforts. We added a new moderator, Don Watkins, and we now have 13 Community Moderators in the program.
