Great article, Justin! I used to use Irssi in a screen session running on a server at work as my "always-on" option, but when I left that job I lost access (and it was sub-optimal for a few other reasons). I've been using ZNC for a year or so and it's great. Automatically starting it after a reboot is awesome.
