It's important to note that the VA has repeatedly come under attack by those who want to lock the VA into their proprietary systems. Most recently some members of the Wisconsin congressional delegation wrote a letter suggesting the VA and Defense departments use a single commercial system. They declined, so kudos!
How about the beer world? The Wall Street Journal reported today that, "America's craft brewers are routinely turning toward rivals to collaborate and create limited-run brews that highlight each brewer's strengths."
My personal favorite is the "Collaboration Not Litigation Ale," made by: Avery Brewing and Russian River Brewing Co. "when brewery owners realized that they had created similar beers with the same name— Salvation—they called each other, not the lawyers. Now in its fifth year, a blend of the two recipes yields a strong ale with notes of fruit and clove."
