Carolyn.. good point. Of course that does have implications for folks working on distributed, massively concurrent systems - gotta write code, but have to track (visualize?) LOTS of moving parts and interactions.
And be sure to turn your kids onto Rube Goldberg! Every year, the MIT Museum sponsors a "chain reaction" (Rube Goldberg write large) - http://web.mit.edu/museum/programs/fat.html - when my kids were younger, their elementary school did as well (they may still).
