Aaron Deacon has been at the center of Kansas City's response to the Google Fiber project. As an advisor to the Mayors' Bi-State Innovations Team he helped write Playing to Win in America's Digital Crossroads, the cities' "playbook" covering education, health care, entrepreneurship and innovation, arts and culture and city life and governance. He organized Building the Gigabit City, a community-wide brainstorming event that kicked off the local conversation about the potential advantages of a FTTH network. He has led several community engagement initiatives to help citizens understand the importance of next generation connectivity, working closely alongside Google up to and through the preregistration process. And he is a founder of the Gigabit City Summit, which helps to share learning from across the world about the best practices in establishing smart, connected communities on top of FTTH networks.
