Sometimes one needs to get off the chair and meet people. The fact that you didnt know Dave or his talks speaks more about a certain anti-Oracle bias in the mainstream IT press than about Dave not doing his job.

Seems pretty open to me!. I was able to create an account and log-in just fine. And I'm not even a regular contributor to the project.

I think that you might be confused by the FUD coming from proponents of a certain fork.
