In short, we care about the feel and the historical connection quite a bit. To this end, we actually invented a new keyboard switch for the K-Type, details of which will be announced on Tuesday. We also created this Comparative Guide - to help give people an idea of how all the different switches feel. Hopefully this helps give you insight into how we operate, though I am sad to say there will be no buckling spring version of the K-Type.
