Thanks, Dr. Pearce, we agree! We are very interested in staying involved with CC as they move forward with plans for the Open Ledger, but they are heading up the project. I believe they plan to build a system that is applicable to all CC licensed works, not just 3D models. Our primary interest is that the system be appropriately distributed and immutable so that no one entity ends up with control over so much creative history.
Thanks for posting this link! Michael was at the CC meeting also and his writing is an excellent resource for folks interested in these topics. The designation between "born free" and "born closed" works is a really big problem since it's so misunderstood. Unfortunately, as stated in Michael's piece, the solution is very challenging!
