I have used a HHKB since the 90's, no remap needed. In the last 10 years DIY keyboards became the things and I have built 3 60% keyboards. I used QMK firmware, which enables key assignment on the firmware level of the keyboard along with multiple layouts that can be toggled with a function key. DIY keyboards can be simple projects, some PCBs require no soldering. Mechanical switches are definitely a step up from the 'HHKB Lite' I had been using. Thankfully, QMK allows me to program the KB with the same assignments as the HHKB.
