David started as a UNIX kernel device driver writer and tester in academia, before becoming distracted by companies using Open Systems to make serious money in Financial Services, Telecoms, Healthcare, and ERP.

The tricky part is getting clusters into production, and passing internal compliance and external audits, and I joke "my job is to keep my customer's name off the front page of the financial press".

Thirty years later doing the same with Linux-based Big Data, OpenStack, and HPC clusters, they seem to have exactly the the same compliance issues, but on a worldwide scale.
