I have tried quite a number of backup apps/utilities. None work as well as simply copying the required folders to the back up media. I usually copy the entire home/(username) folder from two laptops (The Wife's and mine). This takes about half an hour and I usually sit it through (no automatic back ups) as I don't like surprises. I also do NOT use cloud back up as I find the cloud is still too changeable and unpredictable to trust it with my stuff.
