Jeroen de Boer (1973) studied Arts Management, specializing in Musicology, at the University of Groningen and currently works at Bibliotheekservice Fryslân as new media specialist. He focuses on new and emerging technologies as a chance for libraries to find new ways to interact with people and finding other ways to think about the library in transition. One of the projects he currently works on is FryskLab, a Mobile Library FabLab. Jeroen likes to take a look outside the realm of the library to find inspiration and new connections. This is one of the reasons to look into the impact of the maker community and it’s relation with the library world. He blogs regularly on this topic and writes for a number of professional journals, including Bibliotheekblad, InformatieProfessional and META. He spoke about libraries and Makerspaces at conferences such as Computers in Libraries, Internet Librarian International and at the Dutch annual OCLC conference.
His motto: “Keep calm and share information.”
