Anthony I. (Tony) Wasserman is a Professor in the Software Management program at Carnegie Mellon University's Silicon Valley campus. There he created the Center for Open Source Investigation, which serves as a focus for his research on evaluation, adoption, and use of open source. Previously, Tony was the founder and CEO of Interactive Development Environments (IDE), one of the first 100 dot-coms, which created the innovative multiuser platform for Software through Pictures (StP) and was among the first to include open source in a commercial software product.
Tony is a Life Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Fellow of the ACM, honored for his contributions to integrated software engineering environments. He is also a Fellow of the International Federation of Information Processing (IFIP) and a Fellow of the International Software Product Management Association (ISPMA). From 2010 to 2016, he served on the Board of Directors of the Open Source Initiative (OSI). He served as Chair of IFIP Working Group 2.13 (Open Source Systems) from 2015-2022.
His main hobby is photography and he posts many of his pictures on Flickr. Tony has been to 75 countries and looks forward to adding to that list.
