Adventurers like GUI, trusting Upstream Support, and exploring new worlds.
In the computer world, we had similar hostility to Xerox's WIMP, monochrome alphanumerics replaced by colored & dynamic analog displays, the all-in-one microcomputer replacing previous computers, the handheld computers of many kinds of computers, and then the unexpected new "experts" that eventually belottled the previous computer "experts".
This "evolution" of anthropological tools has been well studied & predicted. Eventually both "systemd" and the workings of "The Linux Foundation" will be overwhelmed (belittled) into whatever umbrella organization supplants both groups.
Apple Inc. Moved to a Unix-derived operating system. Eventually Microsoft should be expected to do this. If the Open Innovation Network (OIN) can now use the 90,000 Microsoft cpoyrights & patents, This will have Microsoft following Apple quicker, towards the rational Unix-like systems.
If & when Microsoft moves closer to Linux, this suspicion & hostility to "systemd" might be forgotten. Perhaps the Russian mafia, or the other communists are already planting their seeds into "systemd"? The_Donald should be telling us soon.
My interest in Australia;'s "Microbee" cassette-drive Z80 PC led to using this in the charity sectors. "Osborne 1" running CP/M, then later to IBM-PC compatibles.
We had to battle the staid old conservatives from the big companies. Eventually we won. However these new spreadsheet & similar technologies exposed the management incompetence in existing organizations. So instead of code hacking, I used my unusual computer skills to try to tackle management incompetence.
The fish still rots from the head down. So now I.m using my psychological & cognitive science backgrounds to be more predictive about rational & irrational "governance". This Covid-19 event is a spendid example of the authoritarian closed-god systems (Apple, Unix), versus the relaxed systems of various levels of "semi-structured education" (Microsoft, Linux & Android).
