For more than 15 years I've worked shoulder-to-shoulder with software engineers from around the globe.

I've experienced how developing yourself as a next generation leader in software engineering can be filled with ambiguity.

So, in collaboration with Alexis Monville, I've combined my writing and coaching skills to package a leadership development experience into a book.

Thanks for sharing your reflections so openly and honestly Allison. I think what you've done speaks nicely to how we evolve over time and that it is healthy and beneficial for us to revisit our old beliefs and question them. Especially the views we might be holding on to about past experiences we've had with people, because if we've changed in 3 years, then there's a good chance those people have changed too. If we can do that then we're really turning something that was closed in us into open.

Great article MaryJo, I got a great sense of imagery through reading it. I really liked the way you pointed out the difference in the meaning of words and the impact that has on how different groups of people approach a discussion. In my experience, especially in tech orgs, I've seen similar discussions where the split is between one group of people talking about how behaviors are impacting the issue, while the other group talks about how technology is impacting the issue.
