Manuel completed his studies in applied computer science with a Master's degree in 2013 in Heidelberg, Germany and started working as a software developer shortly thereafter. He is interested in working with and combining all kinds of technology to build new cool things, striving to make lives (including his own) easier. I do not exactly know how replacing the raspberry pi helps creating backups of it. ;)
Anyways, I think the RockPro64 can make a good (but currently more expensive) alternative to the rapsberry pi - what exactly makes it a better fit for your NAS?

I didn't know of this project, thanks for pointing it out!
As far as I can see, it is not in the default apt repositories of Raspbian Stretch, so I think it will involve some setup steps to get it installed, but it's definitely worth a try!
