I've made a small change ("On a PC keyboard...") to catch this technicality. Because this generalization applies to "most" users (I'm aware that I have no data to back up the "most" claim), I'm not going to mention the difference between Alt and Meta in an introductory article. It just clutters up the basic principles I'm trying to convey, and I don't believe it's generally a problem.
I could be swayed. What keyboard do you use that doesn't map Meta to Alt? or is that a change you've made intentionally? When switching from Vim to Emacs, I used ESC for comfort, but ultimately migrated to Alt.
