Not necessarily, but you may already be using Flatpaks or Snaps, and those are similar to containers in many ways. For instance, if you've installed GIMP 2.10.x then you probably installed it as a Flatpak, so it's in a "sandboxed" environment, which borrows heavily from the concept of a containerized model.
