I have been programming since 2000, and professionally since 2007. I currently lead the Open Source team at Fingent as we work on different technology stacks, ranging from the "boring"(read tried and trusted) to the bleeding edge. I like building, tinkering with and breaking things, not necessarily in that order.

I can see where you are coming from. However, the article is more like a list of technologies that *I* think would gain traction in the coming years plus abstract, simplified introductions to what those technologies are.
I too can make my own grocery list, and want my toaster to make toast. And I enjoy driving my own car myself. However, I might also prefer my car to park itself, and to "summon" it from the parking.
Incremental technology will make life more convenient, not completely turn it on its head.
