This is a great observation. I find that I have to always explain what is meant by "Community of Practice". Once it is explained, however, the phrase seems to fit well with the purpose and intent of the community. I also agree reducing jargon should always be a goal when communicating in (or out) of communities to improve understanding and transparency.
