Do you know http://reglue.org/ ? The former name of the group was The HeliOS Project, and they've been doing something similar to this for a few (several?) years in and around Austin TX. They've finally gotten their formal non-profit status.
The efforts of the Kramden Institute and Reglue are great for their recipients and also for keeping old equipment from going into the waste stream. Thanks, people.
