Let me clarify, my comment wasn't critical of your indeed insightful article, which resonated with my own experience.
Just like you, I get so many generic reasons why they can't use Gnu/Linux, and I always reply by suggesting to focus on the reasons (and pointing them out) in favor of giving it a try.

So true, often they are just unfair dismissals based on "I heard of..."
I don't get upset though (ok, honestly...sometimes I do...): I offer to install a Linux distro and most
of the times people agree, since they're offered the alternative when their machines start falling apart after running some competitor Os for some time.
I go like, you either go in a shop and pay for having the native Os re-installed...and probably running into the same problem one day or the other...or you let me install (for free) Linux on it and give it a try.
Most of the times it works, and nobody complains afterwards.
That's the well known limit to Linux taking over the desktop market:
if only people could buy machines already running Linux, they would use it
happily.
