I can see how people would be upset about this. We also haven't seen what sort of weird side-effects we'll see from this. I guess it's something we'll have to live with for now since it's free.
For a teacher to deviate from the standard curriculum it would require a lot of leeway that most districts wouldn't allow. Perhaps there are entities around the world that don't have such restrictions and can cull information (as stated in the video) from different sources and see what works. The best combination of ideas rise to the top. That's the power of open source!
