By day, a consultant for NOVA Web Development. By evening and weekend, he dons his costume (which looks remarkably like the jeans and T-shirts he normally wears), and goes out doing battle against the forces of proprietary software. He was the team contact for the Ubuntu DC "LoCo" and one of the hosts of the former OLPC Learning Club/Sugar Labs DC. (He has also served as a Red Hat Ambassador.)

And, how could I forget to mention POV-Ray, the Persistence of Vision Raytracer (http://povray.org/) ? Especially considering the opportunity for shameless self-promotion? ;-) See my wee tutorial, with links to an example, right here on OpenSource.com at https://opensource.com/life/16/2/povray

For the lazy:

* Ubuntu Studio (http://ubuntustudio.org/) comes chock-full of a lot of these right out of the box

* KX Studio (http://kxstudio.linuxaudio.org/) is Debian-based and has some great audio apps

* Planet CCRMA from Stanford U. is a Fedora-based distro more for the academic musician (http://ccrma.stanford.edu/planetccrma/software/)

Any recommendations on Wacom tablets? I keep considering a purchase...
