If people want to vote to secede, I never said I wouldn't respect their right to do so (as I pointed out, though, there's some question as to whether we do, in fact, have that right). In the same vein, I respect people's right to free speech, but I may disagree with what they say. I don't find that stance hypocritical.
To Jed's point: You are correct that there are now petitions for all 50 states. That was not the case at the time the article was written. Thank you.
