I used Google App Inventor for a short time when I was first learning to code and I loved the simplicity of it. I was dissappointed when I found out they were dropping it, but I'm really excited to hear someone is continuing this work. I learned to fundamentals of OOP while I was using Max/MSP (another visual programming language) and App Inventor was a great way for me to bridge that knowledge into text-based languages.
