"Have you ever needed to run an awk script on your phone?" I can't say that I have. I installed Termux a while back and have never found a case where I need it. What use cases have you found for it?

One thing I like about stepping into broken situations is that the bar for success is lower. It's counterintuitively less stressful because any success is an improvement over the status quo. This can be a great opportunity to boost confidence.
