Opensource.com welcomed five new Community Moderators in August, and I'm pleased to welcome another one in September: Sandeep Khuperkar. Sandeep is the Director and CTO of Ashnik and is based out of Mumbai, India. India is full of active open source projects and communities, and with the help of Sandeep, Nitish, and our other writers and readers who live or work in India, we hope to cover more of the stories.

September preview

In September, we're running our Back to School series, which is going on now. If you missed your chance to send in a story for the series, it's not too late—we're always looking for articles about open source tools and education. Also, in September, we are kicking off our All Things Open series.

All Things Open

All Things Open will be held October 19-20 in Raleigh, North Carolina, and we'll be there. Our editors and most of our moderators will attend the event, and several of us are speaking. We'll also have a booth, so stop by to grab an Opensource.com sticker, meet the team, and learn more about writing for us. Registration is open now, and hotel rooms are going fast.

Most Open Month

We're already planning for October, our Most Open Month. We invite first-time writers to submit a proposal for an article we'll run in October. We also plan to run a My Open Source Story column, similar to our popular My Linux Story column, and we'd love to hear about your experiences with open source projects, communities, and tools.

Send us your story ideas

Send us your story ideas, and see our 2015 editorial calendar and columns for more writing opportunities. We've rounded up 7 big reasons to contribute to Opensource.com. Got questions? Email us at open@opensource.com.

Are you organizing a 2016 open source conference or event? Be sure to add it to our community calendar.

If you have questions, you can find us on Freenode IRC at #opensource.com, or email us at open@opensource.com.
