Oooh... Good catch! And bummer. I was at the presentation so I didn't fully review the video when I posted it. My apologies. :(
It may be more accurate to say that the most *convenient* way to have access to those assets is with a monthly cloud subscription. Since all of those assets are released under a Creative Commons license, people are free to redistribute them outside of the cloud (and they have). But since the redistribution happens in a more scattered way, it's often more difficult to track them down.
I look at the cloud subscription as a convenience fee for folks who don't have the time or energy to scour the internet for redistributed assets.
