Great story James, thanks for sharing! I have a question… you said "and I remember thinking it looked like more work than it was worth". I'm really interested in why you thought it looked like that on the surface? Was there some gut feeling, was it just that it was something new? In the past I've talked about why people don't automate (https://www.slideshare.net/MarkPhillips16/migrating-the-runbook-from-le…) and I wonder if your gut feeling dropped into any of these reasons, or was there another? Thanks!
Nice set of simple guidelines! A few years back I gave a talk in the UK about DevOps, making the point that it's common sense (but what is it they say about common sense – it's surprisingly uncommon).
