Run emacs in vile mode, but rebel and use c-x c-c to exit.
I'm glad it helped. I was just updating an application I wrote in Python 2.7 with PyQt4 to the latest Python 3 + PyQt5, and I have to say that the porting process was as simple as I could have hoped.
I've not yet gone through that with a WxPython app, although it's on the horizon. Hopefully it will be similarly breezy.
