Great question. MuseScore doesn't import MusicXML, as such, because it just opens it directly. You can open these file types in MuseScore: MuseScore, MusicXML, MIDI, Muse Data, Capella, Overture, Guitar Pro, Bagpipe Music Writer, and more.
You can also import PDF files.
Basically, MuseScore is kind of amazing.
I always bring a deck of Dungeoneer playing cards or a solo RPG game of some sort. You never know when you'll be waiting around for a shuttle or a flight or similar (or, if you've traveled very far and your biological clock is drastically offset, you might need to kill time as you wait for the conference to start each morning at 9 when you awoke at 4...). I've never regretted having some small game that fits into a backpack side pocket.
